BuyerCount is a service of Whoovia, Inc. (“Whoovia,” “BuyerCount,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you use MyBuyerCount.com and related BuyerCount services (the “Service”).
This Policy applies to the consumer-facing BuyerCount Service. Separate terms or privacy notices may apply to professional products or services offered by Whoovia.
BuyerCount is designed to help people understand estimated residential real-estate demand while collecting as little personal information as is reasonably necessary for the features a user chooses to use. At launch:
When you use the Service, we and service providers acting on our behalf may collect:
We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie & Tracking Notice. We do not intentionally collect precise device geolocation for the core BuyerCount experience.
Anonymous browsing activity is not intended to be retroactively attached to a later-created account unless the user affirmatively saves or tracks information or otherwise chooses a feature that requires association with the account.
BuyerCount uses property and market information from public records, government sources, commercial data providers, and other lawful sources. This may include property characteristics, deed or assessor information, transaction history, and market-level information. Some source records may contain a property owner’s name because it appears in public deed or assessor records. BuyerCount does not display owner contact information and is designed not to retain homeowner names in production systems when they are not needed for the Service.
We also use aggregated and non-identifiable market and mortgage-application information, historical patterns, and other demand signals to produce BuyerCount analytics. Our public-facing documents describe these sources by category rather than disclosing our proprietary source mix, transformations, weighting, or model logic.
We generate analytics and inferences relating to properties and markets, including BuyerCount estimates, demand curves, market pace, competition indicators, modeled price-demand relationships, and estimated market composition. These are analytical outputs about property demand and market conditions, not a roster of identified buyers.
We use information to:
We do not use protected characteristics to restrict a person’s access to housing opportunities through BuyerCount. We do not use personal information to make lending, housing-eligibility, or other legally significant decisions about a consumer.
We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients:
We do not provide identifiable consumer search history to real-estate professionals or other professional users as a lead-generation product at launch.
Whoovia’s policy is not to sell personal information as “sale” is defined under applicable U.S. comprehensive state privacy laws. At launch, BuyerCount does not use personal information for targeted advertising or disclose personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We use analytics providers to measure and improve the Service. We configure those providers to act on our behalf and not to use BuyerCount personal information for their own independent advertising purposes. If our practices change in a way that creates a right to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising, we will update our notices and provide the required choice before or when the change takes effect.
BuyerCount does not currently use personal information to make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about a consumer. Buyer Strength is a consumer-facing informational tool based on information the user chooses to provide; it is not a credit score, loan approval, or seller selection decision.
We recognize qualifying universal opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control (GPC), where required by applicable law.
BuyerCount uses essential technologies to operate account, security, session, preference, and fraud-prevention functions. With the choices presented in our cookie interface, we may also use analytics technologies to understand how visitors use the Service and improve it.
At launch, BuyerCount does not use advertising or retargeting cookies for targeted advertising. See the Cookie & Tracking Notice and the “Your Privacy Choices” page for additional information and available controls.
We retain personal information only for a defined business, security, compliance, or legal purpose. Our current retention schedule is:
| Category | General retention period |
|---|---|
| Account profile information | While the account is active. After 24 months of inactivity, we may notify the user and delete or de-identify the account unless the user reactivates it. |
| Tracked or saved properties | While maintained by the user, generally subject to the same 24-month inactive-account rule. |
| Buyer Strength inputs | Up to 12 months after the user's last use or update, after which the user may be asked to refresh the information. |
| Identifiable/session-level product analytics | Up to 14 months, then deleted, de-identified, or aggregated. |
| Raw operational IP logs | Generally up to 30 days, unless needed for security, fraud prevention, or investigation. |
| Routine application/server logs | Generally up to 90 days. |
| Authentication, security, and audit logs | Generally up to 12 months, and longer when reasonably necessary for a specific security investigation or legal obligation. |
| In-product chat history | Generally up to 90 days unless retained as part of an active support, security, or legal matter. |
| Customer-support records | Generally up to 24 months after the matter is closed. |
| Email-delivery records | Generally up to 90 days; current subscription and suppression preferences are retained as needed to honor your choices. |
| Cookie/privacy-consent records | Generally 3 years after the consent or preference is replaced or withdrawn. |
| Privacy-rights requests and responses | At least 24 months. |
| Records of acceptance of Terms and legal notices | Generally 6 years after account closure. |
| Deleted-account data in ordinary backups | Removed from active production systems within the deletion workflow and generally aged out of ordinary rolling backups within 90 days. |
We may retain information longer where reasonably necessary to comply with law, preserve evidence, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, respond to a security incident, enforce agreements, or comply with a valid legal hold. We may retain aggregated or de-identified information for longer periods when it cannot reasonably be linked back to an identifiable consumer and we maintain it in de-identified form.
You may request deletion through the methods described on our Your Privacy Choices page. Our goal is to remove account-linked personal information from active production systems within 30 days after we verify and process a valid deletion request. Information may remain temporarily in ordinary backups for up to 90 days and will not be restored to active use except where necessary for disaster recovery, security, or legal compliance.
We may retain limited information needed to document the request, honor an unsubscribe or suppression preference, prevent fraud, comply with law, preserve legal claims, or satisfy another legally permitted exception.
Whoovia provides the following core privacy choices to U.S. BuyerCount users, whether required by a particular state law or offered by us as a consistent national practice:
We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
To exercise a right, use our Privacy Request form or email [email protected]. We may verify a request through the email address associated with your account or by another reasonable method. We generally respond within 45 days and may extend the response period where permitted by law. We may deny or limit a request where an exception applies, we cannot reasonably verify the requester, or the request is manifestly unfounded or excessive. If we deny an appeal, we will provide information about any additional recourse required by applicable law.
An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law. We may require proof that the agent is authorized to act for you and may separately verify your identity.
For California residents, the categories of personal information described above generally include identifiers, internet or electronic-network activity, approximate geolocation, commercial or property-search activity, account and authentication information, communications, optional transaction or financing preferences, and inferences generated from those categories.
We collect those categories from consumers, browsers/devices, public and government records, commercial data providers, service providers, and information generated through operation of BuyerCount. We use them for the purposes described in Section 3 and disclose them to the categories of recipients described in Section 4.
During the period covered by this Policy, Whoovia’s policy is not to sell personal information and BuyerCount does not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about consumers. Account credentials and other sensitive information, if any, are used only for the limited purposes reasonably necessary to provide and secure the Service.
California users may exercise applicable rights through the methods in Section 9. Qualifying opt-out preference signals are honored as required by law.
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. Access to production consumer data is restricted to personnel with a business need and is intended to be limited to a small number of authorized Whoovia personnel. No security measure is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If you believe you have found a security issue, contact [email protected] and do not exploit, publicly disclose, or use the issue to access data that is not yours.
BuyerCount is a general-audience real-estate information service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13. A person under 13 should not create a BuyerCount account. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without legally sufficient authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
We do not require users of the general-audience Service to provide a date of birth merely to browse BuyerCount.
The Service may use or link to third-party mapping, authentication, communications, or other technology services. Their separate privacy practices may apply when you interact directly with them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of an unaffiliated third party acting independently of Whoovia.
We may update this Policy as BuyerCount evolves or legal requirements change. We will post the updated Policy with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use personal information already collected, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent where required by law.
